SWARTHMORE, Pa. - An impressive sweep of the doubles point set the stage for the La Salle University men's tennis team, who earned its fourth victory of the season with a 5-2 decision over Siena on Saturday. The Explorers downed the Saints in all three doubles matches before earning four of six singles points to improve to 4-8 on the year.
Sophomore
Francesco Mowrey and junior
Tomas Christian paired to earn a 6-3 win at the top doubles spot, and both players continued their winning ways in singles action. Mowrey defeated Cameron Kirkwood, 6-3, 6-2, while Christian picked up a 6-2, 6-2, straight-set win over Diego Lebron.
Also taking home wins in singles play were senior
Brian Balico at the No. 2 position, 6-0, 6-2, and freshman
Patrick Pascual at the No. 5 slot (6-1, 6-1). The two players were victorious as a pair at No. 2 doubles, 6-4, while freshman
Braden Ward and junior
Joe DiOrio - a transfer from Siena - completed the doubles sweep at No. 3.Â
La Salle will look to make it two straight wins on Wednesday, March 29 as it takes on Chestnut Hill in a road match beginning at 2:00 p.m.
