ORLANDO, Fla. - The La Salle University women's tennis team will compete in the upcoming 2017 Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Tennis Championship, beginning Wednesday, April 26 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
The Explorers are seeded 14th in the championship and will take on No. 3 Fordham in the opening round of play, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Live video of the match will be available via the USTA's National Campus website.
Fordham (18-3) and La Salle (2-14) squared off earlier this year at Swarthmore College on April 8, with the Rams picking up a 7-0 win. The No. 2 doubles team of juniors
Jade Smith and
Ally Santerelli nearly won their match against Fordham's second doubles pairing, falling by a 7-5 margin. Individually, junior
Jayla Smith had the top showing against a Fordham opponent, winning eight games off Carolina Sa.
VCU earned the top seed in the single-elimination tournament that will be contested over a five-day stretch. The finals will take place on Sunday, April 30, and will be aired live on ESPN3, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
