ORLANDO, Fla. - The La Salle University men's tennis team are set to take part in the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championships in Orlando, Fla., beginning on Thursday, April 27. The Explorers will face No. 5 Dayton in the opening round, with live video of all courts available via the USTA National Campus website, with the match commencing at 9:00 a.m.

La Salle posted four regular-season wins during the 2016-17 season, double the number of victories the program had accumulated in the prior two years combined. The Explorers were led all season by sophomore Francesco Mowrey, who won seven times at the top singles position. Against his upcoming opponent, reigning A-10 Rookie of the Year Jordan Benjamin, the Bethlehem, Pa. product forced a first-set tiebreaker and gave Benjamin all he could handle in a match that went unfinished.

In the prior matchup between the Explorers and Flyers, junior Tomas Christian split the first two sets with Zach Berry at the No. 3 position before his match was called due to the team portion of the competition ending. Dayton picked up the 4-0 win over La Salle at Swarthmore on April 8.

Dayton enters the event with a 13-8 overall record and went through its A-10 season with a perfect 5-0 record, including wins over St. Bonaventure, Saint Joseph's, Saint Louis and Duquesne. Berry holds a team-best 19-9 record, including a 4-0 mark against A-10 opponents.
