PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle University women's tennis team was defeated in its spring season opener by Morgan State, 6-1, at Legacy Tennis Center on Saturday.

Senior Jade Smith nearly picked up a win in singles action, taking the first set by a 6-1 margin. After falling in the second, 7-5, the third set was decided by a super-tiebreaker where Smith was edged by Dana Santiago, 12-10.

La Salle returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 3 with a dual match against Bucknell in Hershey, Pa., beginning at 4:00 p.m.
