PHILADELPHIA -- The La Salle University men's tennis team won five of six singles matches in a 6-3 victory over Jefferson U. on Thursday afternoon.
Senior
Tomas Christian led the way for the Explorers, taking a straight-set win over Joao Pedro Marcal, 6-2, 7-5, at the No. 3 position. Freshman
Colin Lucius also won in a pair of sets, earning a 6-4, 6-2 decision over Joseph Sison at No. 6.
Freshman
Connor Merrill and sophomore
Patrick Pascual were triumphant in three sets, with Merrill coming back from a first-set loss to take the second and third. Pascual won the first and lost the second, both in tiebreaks, before winning the third in a super-tiebreaker, 14-12.
Junior
Francesco Mowrey was victorious at the top singles spot after his opponent retired early in the first. Merrill and classmate
Rogelio Gonzalez picked up the lone doubles match victory for La Salle at No. 2, 8-2.
The Explorers return to action on Sunday, March 25 at Lehigh.
