PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle softball team hosts Rhode Island for a three-game series this weekend, beginning with the 2018 home opener on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m.

Scouting the Explorers
-La Salle is coming off a heartbreaking loss at Villanova on Tuesday, falling 7-6 in extra innings after a walk-off homer by Lauren Hanna. The Explorers had rallied with three runs in the 6th inning to tie the game.
-Sophomore
Emily Conaway is tied for second in the Atlantic 10 with 10 doubles this season, behind only St. Bonaventure's Grace Perchinsky (11 doubles). The sophomore went 1-for-3 with a pair of runs scored on Tuesday.
-Freshman
Ashley Mendenhall had a season-high three hits against the Wildcats, and is hitting .357 (10-for-28) over her last eight games.

Emma Schweigert,
Jackie Heim and
Marissa Ewald are tied for the team lead with 10 RBI's apiece. Schweigert also leads the team with 16 runs scored.
Scouting the Rams
-Rhode Island won the first Atlantic 10 series of the season last weekend, taking two of three at George Mason. The Rams went 3-1 overall last week and have won four of the last five games.
-Rhody clinched the series win at Mason by claiming the series finale in 11 innings, taking the lead in the top of the 11
th on a two-run triple by Kylie Shivery.
-Rhode Island's Julia Warasky was named Atlantic 10 Co-Pitcher of the Week on Monday after throwing 7.0 scoreless innings in relief to earn two victories. The righty allowed just two hits over the two games, and didn't allow a runner past first base.
-URI is in the midst of a 10-game road trip, and won't play a home game until a series against George Washington on April 7-8.
