PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle softball team wraps up the season this weekend with a three-game series at Fordham.
Scouting the Explorers
-La Salle came up just short in three games against Saint Louis over the weekend, falling by just two runs in each game.
-
Emily Conaway hit her 14
th double of the season over the weekend to set the new single-season doubles record at La Salle. The sophomore passed Amanda Clark, who doubled 13 times in 2001, for the top spot.
-With her 10
th home run on Sunday,
Emma Schweigert tied
Megan Hodgson (2013) for most homers in a single-season at La Salle. Now with 16 career homers, the junior sits seventh
on the all-time list.
-Fellow sophomore
Reilly Gearhart threw her 11
th complete-game of the season on Sunday, which is tied for fifth
in the Atlantic 10. Gearhart leads the staff in wins (7) and innings pitched (120.2).
Scouting the Rams
-Fordham has dropped four straight and are coming off a 14-11 loss at St. John's on Wednesday. The Rams were swept at home by Massachusetts last weekend.
-Prior to last weekend, Fordham hadn't been swept in an Atlantic 10 series at home since 2002.
-The 14 runs allowed to the Red Storm are the most given up by Fordham since UC Santa Barbara plated 12 on February 17. The Rams haven't allowed more than 14 runs since an 18-1 loss to No. 3 Auburn in 2016.
-The Rams leads the league in home runs (54), rank second
in slugging percentage (.453), and third in runs scored (261). Chelsea Skrepenak leads the team with a .341 average while Skylar Johnston and Paige Rauch have 14 homers apiece.
-Fordham needs one win to clinch the #2 seed and a first-round bye at next weekend's A-10 Championship.
