Rogelio Gonzalez each won three-set decisions in singles action for the Explorers, who will take on Drexel in their second match in as many days on Sunday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mowrey teamed with freshman Nassim Fenjiro to earn a 7-5 win at the top doubles spot to open the match, before the other two doubles matches went to tiebreakers.
- Needing just one tiebreak win to earn the ever-important doubles point, La Salle was edged at both the second and third spots as the Rams went up in the team competition, 1-0.
- Fordham quickly won straight-set victories at the second, fourth and fifth singles positions to clinch the match, but the Explorers did not go down quietly.
- Mowrey secured a 7-6, 2-6, 10-5 win over Fabian Hansch Mauritzson and Gonzalez followed suit with a 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 triumph against Lutwin de Macar.
- The sixth position also was decided in three sets, with sophomore Colin Lucius suffering a 5-7, 6-4, 10-3 loss to Allen Thornes.
