PHILADELPHIA - La Salle men's tennis senior
Francesco Mowrey completed a personal weekend sweep, earning his second consecutive win at No. 1 singles and pairing with freshman
Nassim Fenjiro to win at the top doubles spot against Drexel on Sunday. The Explorers, however, dropped a 6-1 decision to the Dragons at the Hecht/Hamlin Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mowrey and Fenjiro defeated Sinan Orhan and Djordje Janackovic, 6-3, to give La Salle the edge in early doubles play.
- The Dragons went on to earn 6-4 wins at both the No. 2 and No. 3 spots to take the 1-0 lead.
- In singles action, Mowrey was the lone Explorer to win a set over an individual from Drexel, taking the first set, 6-3, from Alvaro Cruz Chamorro.
- Cruz Chamorro bounced back with a 6-1 win in the second to force a decisive super-tiebreaker in the third.
- Mowrey finished on top, 10-6, to close the weekend a perfect 4-0 individually after two wins against Fordham on Saturday.
UP NEXT
- The Explorers are back in action next weekend with a pair of road matches against Morgan State (Feb. 2) and George Washington (Feb. 3).
