NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The La Salle women's soccer team swept the Atlantic 10 Weekly Awards after a 2-0 week with wins over George Mason and Davidson,
the conference office announced Monday. Redshirt-senior
Maci Bower was named Offensive Player of the Week, junior
Claudia Jenkins earned Defensive Player of the Week, and freshman
Naya Vialva claimed Rookie of the Week.
On the week, Bower scored a goal in each game, including the game-winning goal against Davidson with 58 seconds remaining in regulation. The Millville, Pa. native moved into a tie for 8
th place all-time with her sister,
Madison Bower '19, with 24 career goals. She now leads the team in points (15) and goals (7). This is the second time this season that she has earned this recognition.
Jenkins recorded a pair of shutouts to push her total to five on the season. Collectively, she made seven saves. Jenkins is now 7th all-time in wins (17) and shutouts (10). This is also her second time receiving this award this year.
Vialva assisted on both of Bower's goals for the first two assists in the rookie's career. She also played a crucial role as a defender in the team's shutouts.
La Salle is back in action on Thursday at UMass as the team continues to push for a spot in the Atlantic 10 Championship Tournament.
