PHILADELPHIA - La Salle University men's and women's tennis coach Marco Matteucci announced the 2020 spring schedules for both programs on Thursday. The men's squad, coming off a historic 2019 campaign, will open the year on Feb. 1 at Monmouth, while the women's team will commence the season on Feb. 7 at Delaware.

Led by a junior class of Rogelio Gonzalez, Colin Lucius and Connor Merrill, the men's squad will square off against 16 opponents heading into the Atlantic 10 Championships in April. Highlighting the slate are matches against Atlantic 10 foes George Mason and Saint Joseph's on March 27 & 29, as well as a trip to New York for a battle with Fordham right before A-10's on April 19.

The Explorers posted the biggest upset in Atlantic 10 Championship history last year, defeating No. 6 George Mason in the opening round by a 4-2 margin. Gonzalez, Lucius and sophomore Nassim Fenjiro posted wins in singles action for La Salle.

The women will contest 17 matches throughout the spring, with Senior Day set for April 18 against Jefferson. The Explorers will face a slew of local rivals, including Bucknell (Feb. 21), Monmouth (Mar. 8), Saint Joseph's (Mar. 29), Villanova (Apr. 4) and Rider (Apr. 11). Atlantic 10 Championships will take place on April 22-25 at the United States National Tennis Center in Orlando, Fla.
