PHILADELPHIA - Sophomore
Aleks Nikolic recorded the first singles victory of her La Salle career, but the Explorers fell to Siena, 6-1, in women's tennis action on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Saints earned the doubles point with a sweep of all three matches, with the Explorers dropping narrow 6-4 decisions at No. 1 and No. 2.
- In singles, the top three positions all went in favor of Siena, with senior Brittany Poje providing the most resistance by taking the first set of her match at No. 3.
- With the contest already decided, the final three singles matches were all abbreviated matches decided by the first player to win a single set to eight, winning by two.
- Nikolic picked up an 8-4 victory at No. 4, and junior Maansi Malhotra nearly made it two singles wins for the Explorers but fell, 9-7, at No. 6.
UP NEXT
- La Salle and Fairfield will square off in non-conference action at Legacy Tennis Center on Sunday, Feb. 24, with the match scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
