PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle University men's tennis team picked up a 4-3 victory over Fairfield on Sunday evening, capping a busy home weekend for the Explorers. A day earlier, La Salle fell to Atlantic 10 foe Davidson, 4-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Explorers struggled to get much momentum in the match against Davidson, dropping two of the three doubles matches by 6-4 scores.
• Despite the 4-0 team score, La Salle was destined to pick up at least one point at the No. 1 singles position, where senior Francesco Mowrey led his opponent, 6-3, 5-4, before the match was called.
• Freshman Nassim Fenjiro was all square at one set apiece at the No. 4 spot, while sophomore Rogelio Gonzalez was up a break in the second set of his match at No. 3.
• The following day, the Explorers stepped out of conference to face Fairfield and once again started off slow with a doubles-point loss.
• Mowrey made quick work of his opponent at the top singles position to tie the match at 1-1, and La Salle earned three more straight-set wins at the final three singles spots.
• Fenjiro, junior Patrick Pascual and sophomore Colin Lucius all were victorious as the Explorers won their second match of the season.

• La Salle men's tennis begins a string of four consecutive matches away from Philadelphia on Sunday, March 3, with a matchup with Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa.
