Tiffany Theophil and
Maansi Malhotra picked up singles wins in the regular-season finale for La Salle women's tennis on Wednesday. The Explorers dropped a 5-2 decision to Lafayette.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- La Salle earned a doubles win, with senior Brittany Poje and sophomore Aleks Nikolic defeating Maureen McCormack and Alexa Cooke at No. 2, 6-2.
- The Explorers, however, dropped the doubles point as the Leopards won at No. 1 and No. 3.
- Malhotra was an easy winner at No. 6, not allowing a game to her opponent, Macquarie Simon, en route to a 6-0, 6-0 triumph.
- At No. 1, Theophil rebounded from a tough 6-0 loss in the first set to earn a 6-1 win in the second.
- In the third and deciding set, the Las Vegas, Nev. native took care of business with a 6-4 victory over Samantha Snyder.
- Freshman Jazmin Walle pushed McCormack to the edge at No. 4, winning the second set of a three-set loss.
UP NEXT
- La Salle will travel to Orlando, Fla. for the Atlantic 10 Championship at the USTA National Campus.
- First-round action begins on Wednesday, April 24.
