ORLANDO, Fla. - The La Salle University men's tennis team heads to Florida for the 2019 Atlantic 10 Championship, which begins Thursday, April 25 with first-round action. The Explorers, who are seeded 11th, take on No. 6 George Mason, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
NEWS & NOTES
- La Salle and George Mason faced one another in the regular season, with the Patriots winning a narrow 4-3 decision.
- The Explorers had multiple match points in the contest but GMU pulled out a three-set win at No. 6 to earn the team victory.
- Senior Francesco Mowrey, sophomore Rogelio Gonzalez and freshman Nassim Fenjiro all posted singles wins against George Mason.
- Mowrey secured a three-set triumph over Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honoree Eddy Ayers at No. 1 singles, while Gonzalez and Fenjiro won at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively.
- La Salle is searching for the first opening-round win at an Atlantic 10 Championship in school history (0-23).
ABOUT GEORGE MASON
- The Patriots enter the A-10 Championship with an 11-9 overall dual record and finished A-10 competition with a 4-2 record.
- GMU has won six straight matches entering play in Florida, including a win over No. 4 Dayton, 4-3.
- Last year, the Patriots dropped a 4-2 decision to Saint Joseph's as the No. 8 seed at the event.
