PHILADELPHIA – After dropping Wednesday's doubleheader to Saint Joseph's, the La Salle softball team (10-29, 3-14 A-10) looks to bounce back in a weekend series at Rhode Island (15-26, 4-11 A-10). A twin bill is slated for Saturday starting at noon and the series finale will come on Sunday at noon.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- La Salle sits at 10-29, 3-14 A-10 heading into the weekend.
- Collectively, the team is hitting .236 on the year with senior Emma Schweigert leading the way at .281.
- Junior Emily Conaway is leading the team in nearly every offensive category, including hits, runs, doubles, home runs, RBIs, and total bases.
- Freshman Cailey Joyce has been the team's number one pitcher this season, making 29 appearances for 145.0 innings. She leads the staff with 70 strikeouts and posts a 7-13 record.
- Sophomore Morgan Orlowski is the Explorers other go-to pitcher. Orlowski has tossed 107.0 innings of work with a team best 4.25 ERA.
- Schweigert is currently third all-time in home runs with 21. She is six behind Megan Hodgson to tie second place and seven behind tying Michelle Hagarty for first.
- Conaway is three doubles shy of tying the single season record that she set a season ago. She's also seven shy of the all-time record.
SCOUTING THE RAMS:
- Rhode Island has dropped six of its last seven games and is 15-16 overall and 4-11 in conference play.
- The Rams are hitting .257 on the season with Ari Castillo atop the team at .387. Castillo also leads Rhode Island in hits, runs, doubles, RBIs, and total bases.
- Two pitchers have seen at least 80.0 innings this season, led by Becca Rogers. Rogers paces the team with a 2.45 ERA over 88.2 innings of work. She's also struck out 84 this season.
- Sarah Gunderson is next with a 2.94 ERA in her 83.1 innings. Gunderson has 75 punch outs.
