PHILADELPHIA – La Salle softball (12-31, 5-15 A-10) will host George Washington (37-15, 13-7 A-10) in the final series of the season this weekend at West Campus Field. With a pair of games on Saturday, the Explorers will honor seniors
Emma Schweigert and
Marlo Roadcap prior to the noon first pitch. The twin bill will stream on ESPN+ before the series wraps up on Sunday at noon.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- La Salle is 12-31 overall and 5-15 in the Atlantic 10 this season.
- Schweigert is leading the team at the plate with a .297 batting average. The senior is also pacing the Explorers with 13 walks and eight stolen bases.
- Junior Emily Conaway sits atop the team in nearly every other offensive category, including hits, runs, doubles, RBIs, total bases, and is tied with freshman Cailey Joyce for a team high six homers.
- Joyce is second on the team, batting .290 and third in RBIs and total bases. The rookie is also the Explorers go-to pitcher. In 33 appearances this season, she holds an 8-14 record with 160.0 innings pitched. Joyce has struck out 84 batters faced and holds a 4.38 ERA.
- Sophomore Morgan Orlowski is the team's other workhorse in the circle. The West Chester, Pa. has appeared in 27 games and holds a 4-15 record. Orlowski has a team best 4.24 ERA over 119.0 innings of work.
- Schweigert is currently third all-time in home runs with 21. She is six behind tying Megan Hodgson for second place and seven shy of tying Michelle Hagarty for first.
- Conaway, who set the single season doubles mark at 14 a season ago, currently has 12 this season. She is also six shy of tying the all-time mark and ranks sixth overall.
SCOUTING THE COLONIALS:
- George Washington sits at 37-15 and 13-7 A-10 on the year.
- One of the best hitting teams in the country, GW posts a .353 team batting average which ranks second in the nation. The Colonials are also third nationally in doubles per game, eighth in triples per game, and 19th in scoring.
- Sierra Lange not only sits atop her team in hits with 78, but also leads the nation. Lange posts a conference best .436 batting average and a team high six triples.
- Not only is Lange one of the team's best hitters, but she also serves as the team's workhorse pitcher. With a conference best 25 wins, she's struck out 197 batters on the season over her 216.1 innings of work. Lange posts a 2.69 ERA and holds opponents to a .239 average.
