PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle softball team will have an altered schedule this weekend at the DiMarini Tiger Clash, head coach
Brooke Darreff announced. Instead of a five-game weekend, the Explorers (0-8) will take on Towson (5-6) Friday at 2:30 p.m. and Stony Brook (7-3) Sunday at 10 a.m.
LA SALLE AT THE PLATE:
- The Explorers post a team batting average of .247 after eight games this season, which is second best in the Atlantic 10.
- Rookie Lex Ortman has jumped out to an impressive start for the Blue & Gold. The freshman is hitting .393 with 11 hits in 28 at-bats.
- Sophomore Kaylee Piven is second on the squad at .357. Piven has five hits on the year, including her first career dinger.
- Senior Courtney Shupp rounds out a trio at or above .300. Shupp is second in hits with six. She leads La Salle with two homers and eight RBIs.
LA SALLE IN THE CIRCLE:
- Sophomore Kelly Toomey and redshirt-freshman Aubrey Seal are the only active pitchers for the Explorers.
- Toomey, a transfer from UNCW, has appeared in all eight games and tossed 35.0 innings. She posts a 5.80 ERA and has given up 46 hits and 20 walks for 29 earned runs.
- Seal made her collegiate debut last weekend. She has an inning thrown on the year.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS:
- Towson is 5-6 overall under 25th year head coach Lisa Costello.
- Julia Smith-Harrington sits atop the team with a .457 average on a Tigers team that hits .298 collectively. She also leads Towson with 24 total bases, 11 starts, 16 hits, and six walks.
- Smith-Harrington posts a 2-1 record inside the circle with five appearances on the season. She boasts a 1.81 ERA in 27.0 innings of work.
SCOUTING THE SEAWOLVES:
- Stony Brook is 7-3 on the year under 19th year head coach Megan Bryant.
- Collectively, the Seawolves are hitting .225 on the season with a pair over .300.
- Jourdin Hering is pacing the squad at .474, starting all 10 games. She also leads the team in hits, runs, doubles, triples, RBIs, and total bases.
- Dawn Bodrug posts a team best 0.77 ERA in seven games for a 3-2 record. Bodrug has pitched in 35.0 innings and allowed 11 hits for three earned with 52 strikeouts.
