VILLANOVA, Pa. - Senior
Rogelio Gonzalez picked up his first singles victory of the season at No. 1, however the La Salle men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Villanova on Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The host Wildcats swept the doubles point, before the Explorers came storming back to start singles action.
- The first set of each of the four top singles spots went in favor of a La Salle player, with Gonzalez leading the way as he dominated Alex Kim, 6-0.
- Classmates Connor Merrill (No. 2) and Colin Lucius (No. 4) won their first sets, while junior Nassim Fenjiro did the same at No. 3.
- Villanova won at No. 5 and No. 6 in straight sets, as did Gonzalez to put the score at 3-1 in favor of the home team.
- The Wildcats bounced back at positions two through four, earning three-set wins in each.
UP NEXT
- La Salle opens Atlantic 10 competition on Saturday, March 20 at George Mason, and will continue its road trip a day later against Loyola (Md.).
