PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle softball team (0-19, 0-12 A-10) will welcome Fordham (25-5, 8-0 A-10) to West Campus Field for its final homestand in a four-game series. The teams will square off in a doubleheader on Friday starting at 2 p.m. and a doubleheader Saturday beginning at noon. Saturday will also serve as Senior Day for the Blue & Gold with both games streaming on ESPN+.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- La Salle is eyeing its first win of the season.
- Rookie Tessa Dodson leads the Explorers at the plate with .317 batting average.
- Sophomore Victoria Zatko sits atop the team in homers, RBIs, doubles, runs, and total bases.
- Collectively, the group is hitting .234 with a .284 on base percentage.
- In the circle, junior Sarah Dowalo leads the staff with 15 appearances and 10 starts. She's tossed six complete games over 54.2 innings of work and has a 7.55 ERA and a .385 batting average against.
- Sophomore Regan Ware is next on the team with 43.1 innings of work. Ware holds a 12.44 ERA and a .455 batting average against.
SCOUTING THE RAMS:
- Fordham had won 20 straight games before splitting a four-game set with Army.
- The Rams are within the top 100 nationally in nearly every statistical category and crack the top 50 in about half.
- Fordham's 6.63 runs per game rank 17th in the nation and 2.41 team ERA sits 43rd.
- Brianna Pinto leads a cohort of hitters with a .432 batting average and 35 hits.
- A total of eight Rams are hitting above the team's .320 average.
- Six hurlers have seen action inside the circle, led by Madie Aughinbaugh and Devon Miller with 13 appearances each. The two post a 1.61 and 1.70 ERA, respectively.
- Miller has 99 strikeouts this season and a team best .130 batting average against.
LAST TIME THEY MET:
- Fordham swept the four-game series earlier this season in the Bronx.
- Miller tossed a pair of perfect games on her way to being named the national player of the week.
- The Rams outpaced La Salle 36-2 in that series.
