FAIRFAX, Va. – The La Salle men's and women's track teams added five more individual champions on the final day of the Atlantic 10 Championships.
El Mancini was the first Explorer to claim gold yesterday for her 16:21.54 performance in the women's 5K.
Both the men's and women's teams finished in sixth place overall. The men accumulated 57 points in the meet while the women totaled 60 points. The sixth-place finish for the women marks the highest mark since 2008 when the squad claimed fifth.
La Salle has not won six individual titles in one championship since 2007. This marks the fifth time in program history that six Explorers have claimed first at the Atlantic 10 Championships. The six first-place finishes are the third most in a single championship for La Salle. On the women's side, the Explorers have not had three women champions since the 2018 indoor season.
HOW THEY FINISHED (MEN):
- Dennis Manyeah claimed victory in the high jump reaching a height of 2.11 meters to earn his first Atlantic 10 individual title.
- Liam Rivard earned the championship title for the men's 1K clocking in at 2:26.00.
- Luke Jaciw-Zurakowsky rounded out the first-place finishes for the men's side taking the gold in the 3K with a time of 8:18.84.
- Taonga Mbambo recorded a time of 8:29.92 to finish in fifth place in the 3K. MacCallum Rowe took 13th with a time of 8:33.34.
- Two Explorers competed in the finals for the mile. Nathan Paolangeli took 13th with a time of 4:23.20 while Stefano Isabella earned 17th with a time of 4:26.48.
HOW THEY FINISHED (WOMEN):
- Christine Mancini started off the day strong for the women taking first in the 1K with a time of 2:48.63. Her performance set not only a new meet record, but also broke the all-time program record for La Salle set by Ndidi Obichere (2:48.90) in 2002. Mancini also brought home bronze in the mile with a time of 4:53.12.
- Liz Mancini took first in the 3K with a time of 9:35.87. She was followed by sister El Mancini who claimed the silver clocking in at 9:39.27.
- Maeve Gimbert and Casey McLees also raced in the final for the mile. Gimbert crossed the line in 10:39.28 for 25th while McLees hist 11:22.20 for 36th.
- Jerika Lufrano took part in the 800-meter final finishing top 10 with a time of 2:17.36 (8th).
- Kasi Brown participated in the long jump and triple jump for the Explorers. She finished 15th in the long jump with a distance of 5.28m and 14th in the triple jump with a distance of 10.45m.
- Olabisi Adams landed in the top 10 in the long jump claiming ninth with a distance of 5.41 m while Brandalyn Jones took 23rd recording 4.56m.
- Theresa Richardson placed 13th in the triple jump with an average distance of 10.57m.
