Women’s Soccer Heads to Princeton

.PRINCETON, N.J. — The La Salle women's soccer team will look to bounce back and win its second match of the season on Sunday when it takes on Princeton in a non-conference match at Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium. Kickoff is set for noon.

The game will be televised on ESPN+. In addition, Explorers fans can follow the team on X @LaSalle_WSOC and Instagram @lasalle_wsoc.

ABOUT THE EXPLORERS
  • The Explorers are coming off a tough 2-1 loss to Delaware on Thursday at McCarthy Stadium. In that game, junior Haley Gschrey scored a goal in the 79th minute off a pass from Gabby Picco to cut the deficit to one, but the Blue Hens hung on for the victory.
  • The Explorers will try to come away with their second straight road victory after topping UAlbany, 1-0, last Sunday at UAlbany. In that game, Gschrey scored in the 59th minute off a pass from Elizabeth Estrada.  
  • The Explorers will look to beat Princeton for the first time since 2011, when they earned a 1-0 victory at Princeton. In the last five matches in the series, the Explorers have gone to overtime with the Tigers three times and earned two draws (0-0 in 2013 at Princeton and 2-2 in 2014 at McCarthy Stadium). The Tigers topped the Explorers in 2012 (2-1 in OT at McCarthy Stadium) and 2015 (4-1 at Princeton)
  • Gschrey leads the team in goals with two. Estrada paces the Explorers in assists (two) and shots on goal (five).
  • Ricshya Walker leads La Salle with eight shots. Goalie Michela Auguadro tops the Explorers in saves with eight.
  • La Salle is led by Paul Royal, who is in his 21st season at the helm. Royal has a 200-155-37 record for the Explorers. 
ABOUT THE TIGERS
  • The Tigers are 1-0 after opening the season with a 3-0 against Monmouth at home on Friday night.
  • Before their season opener, the Tigers were coming off a 9-7-1 season. They brought back five All-Ivy League players from a season ago, including First-Team midifielder Lily Bryant and Rookie of the Year winner Pietra Tordin.
  • Tordin leads the team with two goals. Kayla Wong has also scored a goal and handed out an assist for Princeton this season.
  • Princeton is led by Sean Driscoll, who is in his ninth year as head coach. Driscoll has a 124-72-26 record.
