Box Score CLEARWATER, Fla. – The La Salle softball team was edged by Canisius 5-4 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of the USF Under Armour Invitational.
Canisius loaded the bases in the bottom of the 7
th and worked a walk against
Reilly Gearhart to force the winning run home. Gearhart was in relief for
McKenzie Peace (L, 3-4), who exited the game with a runner on 2nd and two outs.
Michelle Hagarty got the scoring going for the Explorers with a two-run homer to left in the 3
rd. La Salle added two runs in the 4
th inning, which started with a single from
Taylor Rohrbaugh.
Gearhart followed with a single and
Lauren Morell plated Rohrbaugh with another single. Gearhart came around to score on a Canisius fielding error to give the Explorers a 4-1 advantage.
The Explorers return to action next weekend in the UMBC Dawg Pound Invitational, beginning with Saturday morning games against Howard and Lafayette. They'll take on UMBC and Howard again on Sunday.
