AMHERST, Mass. – The La Salle softball team will visit Massachusetts for a three-game series this weekend as the Explorers make a push to qualify for the A-10 Championship next month.

Scouting the Explorers
-La Salle lost both games of a doubleheader against Saint Joseph's on Thursday afternoon, falling 9-0 in the opener and 1-0 in game two.
-
Reilly Gearhart turned in one of her best starts of the season against the Hawks, limiting SJU to just one run in her fifth complete game of the season. The righty tossed six shutout innings after allowing a run in the top of the 1st inning, striking out six on the afternoon.
-Gearhart leads the staff with a 3.82 ERA while
Marlo Roadcap (3.85 ERA) is third in the league with 134 strikeouts.
-Two Explorers are hitting over .300 in
Suzanne Swanicke (.319) and
Emma Schweigert (.306). Swanicke also leads the team in RBI's (28), slugging percentage (.574), on-base percentage (.435) and is tied for the team lead with five home runs.
Scouting the Minutewomen
-Massachusetts swept a doubleheader at Saint Joseph's last weekend in a rain shortened A-10 series to remain atop the Atlantic 10 softball standings.
-The Minutewomen were scheduled to play both Connecticut and Boston College during the week but both games were cancelled due to inclement weather.
-Junior Meg Colleran was named Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week on Monday after going 3-0 in the circle to pace UMass softball to a 3-1 week (April 18-23). The righty struck out 11 batters total, including seven at Boston College on Wednesday, and posted an ERA of 0.33.
-Kate Dennis leads the staff with a 2.53 ERA through 108.0 innings, which is good for seventh in the Atlantic 10. Colleran isn't far behind with a 2.57 in 141.2 innings, good for eighth in the A-10.
- Kaitlyn Stavinoha is hitting .366 on the season to lead UMass at the plate. The sophomore leads the team in doubles (eight), RBI's (32) and slugging percentage (.466).
