Hall of Athletes
Jon Walheim '66 was an All-American on five occasions during his career and reached the NCAA finals six other times. He finished second in the 100 freestyle at the 1964 NCAA Championship and fourth in the 50 and 100 freestyle at the 1965 NCAA Championship. He also played an integral role on the 400 free relay teams which earned All-America status in 1964 and 1965.
He enjoyed tremendous success at the MAC Championships, taking home the gold in the 50 and 100 free in 1964 and 1966. His 400 free and medley relays captured the top spot at the 1966 conference championship as well. Walheim graduated with school records in the 50 and 100 freestyle. His brother Peter is also a member of the La Salle Hall of Athletes.
Walheim also received an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship in the first year it was awarded.
