Hall of Athletes
A member of the men's basketball team from 2002-06, Steven Smith was a three-time First Team All-Philadelphia Big 5 selection (2004-06). A standout on the hardwood for the Explorers, he was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Year in both 2004-05 and 2005-06. Over four years, he accumulated 1,940 points, good for seventh on La Salle's all-time scoring list at the time of his induction in 2020. Smith also ranked fifth in school history with 872 career rebounds (as of 2020), after leading the Explorers in the category four straight seasons. Following graduation, he was a member of the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers for the 2006-07 season, appearing in eight games for the hometown team. He would go on to an illustrious professional playing career overseas that saw him play in Greece, Germany, France, Italy, Israel, Spain and Argentina. He was inducted into the Philadelphia Big 5 Hall of Fame in 2019.
